How we check facts

Whether you can trust the numbers on this site depends on how we get them. This is where each figure comes from, and how we mark the ones we are not sure of.

One file, one source for each figure

Every figure that appears on this site is stored in a single file, and each entry in that file carries one of three labels. Observed means we saw it ourselves inside the member site on a stated date. Official means it comes from a public SilverSingles page, such as the service agreement or the App Store listing. To confirm means we could not see it, and the page shows the words to confirm instead of a number.

Each page takes its figures from that file, not from what anyone remembers. If a figure changes, it changes in one place and every page that mentions it updates together. That is also how we stop two pages disagreeing with each other.

We walk through the member site

The figures marked as observed come from an account we hold on SilverSingles. We walked through the member site on 15 September 2026 and went back to re-read its labels on 16 September 2026. On those visits we counted the 33 paid features listed for Silver Select and followed the settings menus that our step-by-step pages describe. Auto-renewal is on by default, but we have that from the service agreement, not from those visits. The payment screen on our own account showed renewal already off.

We use that account to look, not to take part. We do not message members or buy anything on it. Screenshots of other members are blurred before they appear on this site, and where a screen would show too much we redraw it instead.

Why there are no prices here

We do not print what Silver Select costs. A figure copied from a screen can be out of date by the time you read it, and the figure that counts is the one on the payment screen in front of you. What we do say is where the price is shown: on the website's plan screen, headed "CHOOSE MEMBERSHIP PLAN", which a new free account reached on 17 September 2026 and which was in US dollars, and in the App Store listing, also in dollars. We stopped at that screen and bought nothing. Whether a UK member is ever shown a price in pounds is to confirm. The cost page shows the way to that screen.

What we do print are the rules around paying, because they come from the service agreement and they catch people out: auto-renewal is on by default, and a refund is allowed only within three working days of subscribing. Those are on cancel auto-renewal.

Pages are re-checked every 30 days

Most pages carry a "last updated" line at the bottom. The home page and the front pages of the help and advice sections carry a "facts checked" date at the top instead. A "last updated" date moves only when something on the page has changed: a new figure, a corrected step, a new section. It does not move for spelling fixes or design changes. Every 30 days we re-read the pages against the member site, the App Store listing and the public SilverSingles pages. If nothing has changed, the date stays where it is.

Between checks, readers are the best source of corrections. If a menu has moved or a price has changed, please tell us at hello@uksilversingles.co.uk and say which page you were reading.

When SilverSingles changes something

SilverSingles changed hands in May 2026, when SuccessfulMatch.com, Inc. took it over. Much of what is written about the service elsewhere on the web still describes the old version. When we find that a figure has changed, we update the file and the pages that use it update with it. We also update the what changed in 2026 page, so that readers who remember the old service can see the difference.

What we do not claim

We do not say how likely you are to meet someone, because nobody can. We do not carry out background checks on members, and SilverSingles states that it does not either. We do not review individual members and we do not publish anyone's profile. Where the service has a weakness, such as a phone line whose hours are 2pm to 10pm UK time, we say so on the page where it matters.
